I know that summer break is less than a week away and teachers are definitely looking forward to a chance to relax and enjoy themselves and the warm weather.
Finding this US article on declining enrolments in teacher education was not particularly enlightening. For some reason, US articles on the state of teaching always focus on pay levels and standardized teaching. I assume this is due to their cultural blindspots. Most westernized countries have similar issues with teacher attrition and the teaching profession but most other countries do not have the same pay and testing environments. I hope that someday international studies will be looked at across political boundaries so we do not have to rehash the same old rhetoric about teaching.
