Dr. Cheryl L. Pollard

Dr. Cheryl Pollard joined MacEwan University in 2009. Previously, she held positions as clinical nurse specialist and nurse researcher in mental health, and has also had progressive leadership positions within the Alberta Home Care and Supportive Living systems. The foci of Dr. Pollard’s professional practice and research are  resilience and hardiness, relational ethics, and the media. Her doctoral research focused on the depictions of psychiatric-mental health nursing care in film, using the research tradition of interpretive visual inquiry. Earlier research projects focused on evaluating interventions aimed at improving health related hardiness within individuals who were managing a mental illness.

Dr. Pollard is currently serving MacEwan’s Faculty of Nursing in the role of Associate Dean.

MacEwan’s mission, vision, values, and educational philosophy have impacted the development of her approaches to teaching, scholarship, and service. More specific information about her approaches and activities in these areas is on other pages in this site.
