Organizations

Working with amazing colleagues must be the best part of any job. Beyond MacEwan, I am delighted to support and work with various organizations.

Software Carpentry teaches software skills in programming and data usage that many professionals are finding themselves needing. A few years back, I wrote about my experiences teaching software skills to librarians in a blog post.

Through the use of humanitarian software like the amazing Ushahidi project in my own teaching, I have participated in workshops with Foss2Serve OpenPath projects which are funded through the NSF. The goal is to include humanitarian software in undergraduate education with the hope that it will broaden the appeal of computer science to students who might feel computer science is not for them.
