Reflection on Student Evaluations

I genuinely appreciate the student feedback I receive. Over the last few years, the response rate has been very high (75% or more) and the scores are very encouraging (mid to high 4’s). Many students take the time to write thoughtful comments and suggestions which I take very seriously.

I am pleased to find out that students feel I am passionate and enthusiastic about the subject matter. I am glad this comes through in my teaching because I truly enjoy what I’m doing. Students especially seem to appreciate quick responses to emails and quick turnaround time on submitted assignments.

A number of students recommend diving deeper into the applications, particularly in Excel. I agree with this sentiment and I plan to make room for more Excel in the Business Computing course starting this fall. Students also seem to like the videos that I produced for the course, so I plan to add to that collection, mainly with Excel and Word tutorials.
