Save Stan is an interdisciplinary team simulation event involving five major health partners in the Edmonton area. Students of all health disciplines from MacEwan University, University of Alberta, NAIT and Norquest College along with Alberta Health Services gather for a full day of simulation learning.
The purpose of this event is to build interdisciplinary partnership and communication among health disciplines during the education phase so there is greater partnership when entering the work environment. The learning simulations do not focus on clinical skills but on team building, role identification, communication, and client-centered care.
I have volunteered at this event since its inception in 2011. I participated as a debriefing facilitator for the first three years. I participated as simulation coordinator in the fourth and fifth year of this event.
